Increase Pagerank Increase Chances of Making Money Online
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is one important umbrella of techniques to make your website stand out when someone uses a search engine in looking for some information.
And one end result of a well-SEO’ed site is the increase in pagerank. Pagerank is that measure of a website’s importance in the eye of Google, one of the widely used search engines. It is also one of the standards that make many online businesses such as blog monetization companies like Text-Link-Ads, Adbrite, Blogsvertise and ReviewMe decide whether a site is worth their advertisers’ attention or not.
So if you are a fan of these online ad networks, you definitely want a higher pagerank (0 is the lowest and 10 being the most coveted and highest).
New sites or blogs that start from scratch (newly-registered domain name and 0 content) will have a pagerank of 0. However, it’s usually easy to make the pagerank toolbar show some green after about two to three months. How?
Here are some tips on how you can increase your site’s pagerank.
1. Post quality content regularly.
Quality content is that writeup that makes you nod whenever you read it. For your readers, it is information that they can or cannot make use of but entertains them nonetheless.
Why do you need to post quality content?
It is the best linkbait. Linkbait is that buzzword that makes a blog post cool enough to be linked to by other bloggers. It should attract attention in any way possible depending on the type of publicity you’d like your blog to earn. If your blog has content that is worthy of a conversation, you might receive a large volume of comments that will help in making your blog sticky and spider-friendly.
Why do you need to post quality content regularly?
You want your blog to be bug-friendly, er, spider-friendly. Spiders or bots are those search engine critters that inform search engines whenever your blog is updated. The more you update your blog, the more these critters visit you to tell their masters that you have some fresh stuff posted. And search engines love frequently updated blogs.
2. Link to blogs that provide quality content.
This is in adjunct to the production of quality content for your site. One of the easiest ways to serve some hot content for your readers is through informing them of other providers of quality content via linking to those blogs with the coolest news that is relevant to your own blog’s topic. Moreover, this move works two ways - 1.) providing good links for your readers, 2.) getting excellent bloggers’ attention that might consequently win you a backlink from them. Backlinks are those inbound links or links pointing to your site. You want lots of those inbound links since they serve as votes of trust that will make Google decide whether to give you higher pagerank or not during pagerank update periods.
3. Get your site listed on site directories or indexed by search engines.
The more directories your blog is listed on, the more traffic you can expect, especially if you were able to get your site listed on many of the most preferred search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN.
Hundreds of search engines and directories can be tapped to enlist your site or blog. Although some require payment to get your site listed, many offers free listing. All you have to do is submit your site and provide all the required information, which mostly consists of your blog’s URL, title, description and keywords depicting your blog.
You can also ping (Packet Internet Gropher) these search engines to inform them about your updates. Some of the search engines you can ping, espcially if you are
optimizing a blog include:
http://blogsearch.google.com/
http://technorati.com
4. Provide or sponsor useful applications.
If you have the skill to develop plugins or widgets that can be used by many bloggers, you have the chance to get hundreds or even thousands of links easily. If you don’t have the programming or software engineering skill, you can bid to sponsor some of these applications, more specifically Wordpress templates, which are one of the mostly used blog templates nowadays. Those are just some of the ways that can help you increase your blog’s pagerank. Dozens upon dozens of methods can be discovered if one’s creativity runs wild.

It is useful to note that PageRank refers to the value of a specific page and that the PR shown by the toolbar is a frozen value. A lot of people are seduced by a site (typically a directory) whose home page shows high PR but its listings are all PR0 and cannot be seen with a Google site: command.
When it comes to ranking for a specific term, PR is less important than the page’s content.
