Blog and Get Paid with PayPerPost.com
One of the latest online money making ventures I’ve learned about is Pay Per Post. And, if you’re a blogger, then this might just interest you.
How Does It Work?
First, you need to meet the requirements as a blogger (see below). Then, you sign-up with PayPerPost.com to have an active account. At this time, only U.S.-based bloggers are welcome, as you need a valid Tax Identification Number (TIN) and U.S. address in order to participate. Once you have an account, you can review the blogging opportunities available from various advertisers. You then write a blog entry on one of the opportunities based on the requirements (word limit, etc.). PayPerPost.com will then review your blog entry. Your blog entry should be “live” on your blog for 30 days. Then, you’d get paid via PayPal.
Any Known Issues About Pay Per Post?
1) Since I’m not U.S.-based, I’m unable to test this programme. I do not know if it really works or not.
2) There are a lot of controversy when it comes to blog-for-pay in the blogosphere. So, if you’re a blogger who does not want to create trouble, you might consider posting a disclosure on your blog about getting paid for such blog entries.
Anyway, if you’ve tried PayPerPost.com, please feel free to share your opinions about it.
Requirements:
* You must be 18 to participate or have written consent by a legal guardian.
* All posts must be in English on a blog written in the English language.
* Your blog must also be at least 90 days old, verifiable by a third party index of the site.
* The content of each post must be unique. You may not post the same thing on different blogs and you may not copy someone else’s post (except when specified by the advertiser).
* We reserve the right to deny any post and cancel any account at any time at our sole discretion.

My concerns with PayPerPost is many bloggers aren’t going to disclose that its a sponsored post which can do any of the following:
- damage their own credibility
- other bloggers credibility. There are many in the media that either don’t like or don’t understand blogging and will look for a chance to try and belittle it
I best like how Rafe Needleman put it:
“This is a bad, bad, bad thing. It’s hard enough for bloggers and professional journalists to maintain their integrity as it is. Even an unsubstantiated rumor of impropriety can destroy a writer.”

Shai, I’m excited to see where you take this blog and I’m glad I found it. Like Greg, I doubt that many PayPerPost bloggers would bother to disclose their sponsors. Does PPP have a rule saying that if you don’t disclose things properly, they won’t pay you? I don’t think so.
There’s nothing wrong with paying a contracted writer per post, as long as everybody discloses who is paying whom and for what, to avoid conflicts of interests and potential deception.

Greg: I agree. It’s a tough dilemma for bloggers. And, yes, this sort of thing may be abused. In any case, ultimately, it will be up to the individual blogger to make that call.
Easton: Thanks. My hope is that this will be a good blog to watch too. :-) And, I look forward to getting other people’s input, as there are so many online money-making schemes out there.
Anyway, on PayPerPost - yes, a disclosure will definitely help with the ethical practices. I mean, I can understand why some bloggers would do it. But, at the same time, I hope that those who do give it a go will give it a lot of thought to see how they can make it work well.

on a security issue, i’d be wary of an unknown site requiring you to give your SSN. too many people get this information these days that really shouldn’t be getting it. unless it was a permanent paying position, i wouldn’t risk giving my SS# to just anyone when there’s a chance that information can fall into the wrong hands. yikes!

Stef: That’s another good point you made. But, admittedly, being non-U.S.-based, I’m not sure how big a threat this is. Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Hi Shai,
I remembered seeing your post here and thought you would be interested in what appears to the equivalent service at blogsvertise.com . And unlike PayPerpost it is open to all nationalities including us Aussies.

[…] After reading Darren’s latest post about recent PayPerPost developments, I decided to check out the service again. It’s been a long time since I last visited this site, and back then, I couldn’t even sign-up to test out the programme. […]
